Do you seek after the power of God? Do you seek for signs and wonders to be
manifested in your life? Jesus promised signs and wonders would be a vital part
of the life of those who believe, (Mark, chapter 16) yet there is no evidence in the Scriptures that we are to seek for those things above seeking to know Him and His love.
Do you seek to be known of men? Most of us desire to leave our mark on the
world….to leave behind some positive evidence that we were here, and our life
made a difference! In that desire, however, we must be careful to stay small in
our own eyes.
What are we, the body of Christ to seek for? Apostle Paul, in I Cor. 13, makes
it clear when he says, “And now I will show you the most excellent way.” As
he continues, we see that Paul has been given a revelation from God, and now
he is sharing it with his listeners. He says “If I have not love, I am only a
resounding gong, or a clanging cymbal.” Is my life an irritation to others?
Am I like bitter gall to all who hear me? Is there a distinct, soothing, and
pleasant sound coming from my life? Am I seeking love?
Gifts without character will lead to a great fall. May we never seek to be
known by our gifts and abilities. May we seek after love….God’s agape
love. And from that place, may we be channels through which his unconditional
love can flow into the hurting, desperate, downtrodden people of this world;
the ones who’ve lost hope and are stuck in the muck and mire of the earth life.
Let us pray:
“Father, I no longer seek after signs and wonders, even though they are promised
to me. I will seek after love. And from my seeking, you will lead me to those
you have entrusted to my care.”
“You know where they are, dear Father. Love them through me, in whatever manner or method you choose: Through a card, an email, a word of wisdom, a word of knowledge, a word of hope, a word of comfort, a word of truth.”
“Father, send me to them…the ones you have assigned me. May your love, as a
healing ointment flow from my heart, into theirs.”
Amen.

A perfect thought for me today as I check my priorities and responsibilities in my church body. Feeling burnt out after a busy holiday of ministry, I find myself being more of a Martha than a Mart, worried about getting the work done and not having time to share God's love the way He wants me to. Thanks for allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through this article.
This so beautiful...please allow me to love those you have assigned me! Wow! This is such a precious word! I am simply absorbed by your thoughts, and you are truly loving all of us, but allowing these words to materialize from your soul to our hearts...May the Holy Spirit continue to use you! This is a blessing...thank you, I almost am sad that it is not longer....
Wonderful, Barbara, absolutely wonderful! Your prayer and understanding of how to touch someone with the Word of God is very inspiring. I hope many will read this article and share in your prayer. You are loved.
Amen! Tell me something, Mrs. Barbara... why are you preaching my sermon before I ever get around to doing the retreat? :::wink:::
