Godly and ungodly anger Leave a Comment / Uncategorized / By desiringgod It is normal to be angry. Being angry with people and at something is not a sin, but, when it leads to destruction of life and properties it then teamed wicked and sinful. Anger is outrageous, and the strongest state of mind that depicts lack of happiness. It is like a two edged sword, that if not carefully handled it may be dangerous to the person who vent it and harmful to the one vented upon. Anger is not hidden. When someone is provoked to wrath it will be noticed in his deposition. Vexation affects the countenance desposition, tune of voice, makes eyes red and causes the face to look pile. Proverbs 15:13 says “A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushed the spirit’NLV. Annoyance will not only cause the face to look pile but also crushes the spirit. It makes the body to sick. It has the power to reduce a very high rated personalities. It is the only character in a man, that if not checked and controlled by people of reputation it will rubbish and throw them to the mud. The saying is true: an angry person dies hundred times faster those scourged and curscursed. Ephesians 4:26″ In your anger do not sin; Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. Here we are looking into godly and ungodly anger. We say angry is godly when it is displayed by God or by man to make correction and to defend the poor. And it is ungodly when it is against God’s will. Below are some godly and ungodly anger displayed in the Bible. It was a godly anger when reacted to Adam, Eva, and Serpent disobedient in Genesis 3:14-18″14And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. 16Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. 17And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb” Cain annoyance to his brother was ungodly while God’s umbrage to Cain was godly because he was warned before he displayed his wrath in him. You see this in Genesis 4:6-11″6And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. 8And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. 9And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper? 10And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground. 11And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;” Moses’s wrath to the Israelite was ungodly but God’s anger towards Moses was a righteous anger. You will read from Numbers 8-12″8Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. 9And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. 10And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? 11And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. 12And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.”. The truth is weather godly or ungodly annoyance, someone or something must be at the receiving end. To avoid the consequences anger let us do away with anything that will cause anger. God bless you.
