A WORLD OF HATE
Freelance writer Lupie Riley
Thought: Imagine this world without war’s, murder’s, rape, terrorists, hate and greed? It would be a paradise on earth, a world of peace and love. Our present world is one of violence with hate at the root of all Evil. This malicious deed that was brought upon two political parties that had come together for an upcoming charity event was horrendous. It left America stunned that such an act could happen on a baseball field full of innocent people. The shooter, James Hodgkinson was armed to kill as many republicans as he could but the security guards who were there for Rep. Scalise brought him down. Otherwise, it would have been a field of blood and death. God’s hand was in this crisis to stop the bloodshed of many more innocent victims. This man of hate was consumed by the thought that republicans were the enemy and they should all die.
The opposite of hate is love. Two sentences in God’s word could stop all war’s, hate and violence that permeates our world today. As the song goes “what the world needs now is love sweet love” and that comes from only one source—the person of Jesus (God). God is love and those that have the spirit of Jesus within have access to ‘true’ love, not the kind the world offers. If Hodginson would have had access to this kind of love this deed of hate and killing would have never played out. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Prayer: Father God, you are the source of true love, the kind that would lay his life down for his friend. You demonstrated this love by your sacrifice on the cross for all mankind. These security agents were not there by chance but they too were ready to lay their lives down for their fellow man. May your healing hand and comfort be upon all those who were injured by this man of hate. Maranatha
Verse: Mark 12:28b-31 “ Of all the commandments which is the most important?” Jesus replied, “The one that says, Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only God. And you must love him with all your heart and soul and mind and strength. The second is: You must love others as much as yourself. No other commandments are greater then these.”
