Mother’s Day stirs memories and rekindles love.
How do I measure the love Mom gave to each of her children?
Maybe I can’t calculate its circumference but she wrapped it around a song.
Mom often sang a catchy chorus that still rings in my memory. The song, ‘A Bushel and a Peck’ comes from the 1950 Broadway musical, ‘Guys and Dolls.’ In the song, love is measured by bushels and pecks. That’s a heap of love!
God calls for integrity in lives and weight measurements at the market place.
“Dishonest scales are detestable to the Lord,
but an accurate weight is His delight (Proverbs 11:1 HCSB).”
If a bountiful harvest is sold by bushel or peck, God is peering over the merchant's shoulder. He doesn’t want the needy buyer to be short-changed. We’re a needy people, in need of a heap of love. Open your heart; the LORD waits to fill it with His unconditional love.
