Moving Ahead In Spite Of Circumstances

Psalms 44:18
Our heart is not turned back; neither have our steps declined from thy way

Moving (causing or producing motion. Moving from one place or position to another. Advancing or progressing)

Ahead (in front of or an advance of a person or thing, forward direction, onward, or with ones activities or intentions)

Spite (malicious desire to harm, annoy, or humiliate another person. A particular instance of such an attitude or action. Something that causes vexation, annoyance)

Circumstance (a condition or attribute that accompanies, determines or modifies a fact or event. A modifying or influencing factors. Usually circumstances, the existing conditions or state of affairs surrounding and affecting an agent. The condition or state of a person with respect to material welfare, and incident or occurrence)

Moving ahead in spite of circumstances means that we should move from one position to the next, advancing progressively in front of a person or thing, onwardly in a forward direction, no matter what others desires to happen to us, (good or bad) no matter how annoyed we become, no matter how we are humiliated and no matter how the thing vexes us. Our existing conditions or state of affairs, we should continue with God and move ahead in spite of circumstances.

When you are in trouble and circumstances seems against you, God will reach into the mess and pull you out.

Even with the woman with the issue of blood for twelve long years, pressed on for her deliverance. She held on to believe God could heal her and no matter how the situation looked, no matter what any one said or did, she reached her place of faith and stayed there until she received her deliverance. They said she was crazy to hold on to her faith when for twelve long years her condition remained the same, but yet in it all she praised and glorified God in her situation.

Circumstances causes us to fall into bondage, gain faith, tear down our emotional walls, causes the wounded to come and find strength in praise, causes us in relationships to argue, causes us to not trust as we ought, to walk in fear, our attitudes to be abrupt sometime, it may cause us in most cases to trust God for all of our resources, for we don’t count our values because we love God, we count it because God loves us, and circumstances brings us to a point of gratitude and praise.

According to Luke 8:22-25, circumstances should not hinder your confidence. Jesus went into a ship with his disciples on a certain day and he said unto them, let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. But as they sailed he fell asleep; and there came down a storm of wind on the lake, and they were filled with water and were in jeopardy. The shook Jesus and awoke him, saying master, master, we perish. Then he arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased and there was a calm. And he said unto them, where is you faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, what manner of man is this; for he commandeth even the winds and water and they obey him.

The disciples were so afraid because of the circumstances around them they lost sight of who was with them for a minute. They looked at the situation around them. We have to stay focused. It’s not what you go through with, but how you go through it.
The Sea of Galilee surrounded by mountains has high winds sweep down suddenly from these heights, whipping up the sea. It was a struggle for the disciples, as for others to come to grip with the person of Christ. Witnessing his mighty works helped, but a personal faith commitment still had to be made. The decision would not have been an easy one. The conclusion is that with Christ they arrived on the east shore of the lake, moving ahead in spite of circumstances.

Sometime you may have unpleasant circumstances and Acts 16:16-40 lets us know that, but you have to continue to glorify God. As Paul’s encounter with a demon possessed damsel, possessed with a spirit of divination, brought her Master much gain by soothsaying, declared that they are the men of God, which shows us the way of salvation. The words seemed strange to Paul, but they revealed Satan’s insidious attack upon the work of God. His method is counterfeit to that which is genuine, thereby confusing and corrupting it. Paul’s encounter in prison was another example of why we should glorify God in an unpleasant circumstance. He was locked up under the authority of the ruler and the jailer kept them. This event was not to deliver Paul but to convert the jailer. God knew that Paul would be released the next day, so he sent an earthquake for the purpose of the jailer getting saved. The situation he was placed in brought salvation to him. Circumstances will change our lives sometimes. Only God knows the purpose for things happening in our lives.

Circumstances bring us to a place of rejoicing, a place of the wounded being healed, a place where the brokenhearted can be restored. Circumstances bring us to a proper attitude. They bring us into right relationship with God.

God uses circumstances to prove us worthy of our blessings. Just praise God though. Keep you faith and your eyes stayed on God. See through the eyes of the prophet. Let nothing separate you from the love of God.
