Encouragement
John3:16 (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This piece of Bible passage is neither referring to land, animals nor firmaments but mankind! His love for humanity is incomparable even in man’s sinful nature, our father and creator makes a way of escape available from the punishment to come.
1 Samuel 16:
7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
Psalm 139:13-16
Matthew 6:28-29
Genesis 1: 27
Job 33:4
1 Corinthians 3:16
Ecclesiastes 3:11
1 Peter 3:3-4
2 Corinthians 4:16
The following story that I received is a true example of how value is often misplaced.
A little boy once asked his grandfather, “What is the value of life?” The old man, without saying a word handed over a stone to him then said, “go with this and find out the value, but, do not sell it!”
The boy went on his way and met an orange seller,” pray tell, what is the value of this stone?” The orange seller turned over the stone in his hand and said, “Take twelve oranges and give me the stone”; the boy took back his stone and apologetically said that it was not for sale.
Next he met a vegetable sell whom he asked the same question. The seller took a look at the stone and volunteered a sack full of potatoes for the stone, and then the boy once again apologized and said that he could not sell his stone.
Further down the road, he met a jeweller who, after scrutinizing it under his lens, promised to pay a million in monetary value in exchange for the stone; when the boy refused, he said, “alright, I’ll give you 2 of these 24 Carat gold necklaces but let me have this stone!” The boy nodded in negative affirmation and went on his way.
As he moved a few yards on, he saw a store that sold precious stones; he went in and asked the shop owner to value the stone. When the owner of the store saw the Ruby, his eyes popped , he took it and laid it on a piece of cloth on his counter, he walked around the counter and back again, bent and touched his forehead on the precious stone, then said, “ From where did you get this PRICELESS STONE? Even if I sell the whole world and my life, I could never afford it!”
Stunned and confused, the boy took his stone, thanked the store owner and silently left the store
He returned to his grandfather and asked him once again, “grandfather, do tell me what the value of life is”, the old man looked with wisdom filled eyes at this young person who still had a lot to learn about EVERYTHING, then he said, “The responses that you received from the various people that you encountered on your journey of enquiry, explains the answer to your question my beloved.”
He went on to explain what he meant, “You may be a precious stone but each person you meet on the journey of life will value you based on various factors: their financial status, their level of exposure,information/intelligence, their mentality and mind-set, most importantly, the greed-driven ones will value you based on their ambition to succeed at all costs and supersede ALL OTHERS ”
But, never fear because if you trust God and patiently wait on His timing, you shall meet that ONE who discerns your TRUE VALUE.
So:
Respect yourself
Believe in yourself
Remain focused
Do not sell yourself cheap
Know that you are unique and no one can replace you!
Because indeed, inestimable is your true value
