Enemy In The House


II Samuel 15:6
And on this manner did Absalom to all Isreal that came to the King for judgment, so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

This message today will teach us:
I. The enemy in us
II. The enemy in your home
III. The enemy in the church

Enemy – one who manifest malice or hostility toward, or opposes the purposes or interests of another, a foe, an opponent, a hostile power or force of a nation or a member or unit of such a force. Something destructive or injurious in its effects.

House – a place of abode, residence. Building used for shelter or storage, a building having a specified function or making available a specified thing.

Your body is the house that houses your mind, heart and soul. It can be your home or your church.

Absalom in our text was the spoiled, impatient, overly ambitious son of David, who tried to forcibly seize the kingship from his father. As you will see later on that this act was motivated by vanity and pride and it led to his tragic death. He was David’s third son by Maacah, the daughter of the King of Geshur. Absalom was a potential heir to the throne, of very attractive appearance and he had charming manners, he had beautiful long hair, in which he took great pride, a popular prince with the people and a favorite of his father, he avenged the rape of his sister by having his brother Amnon executed. Then fearing his father’s wrath, he fled into exile. After three years he returned and plotted a revolt against the throne. He was anointed King after taking Jerusalem, but lost 20,000 men in the ensuing battle with David. Joab then killed Absalom despite David’s request that he be not harmed. Only sad words can express David’s sorrow over the death of Absalom. Although he was an enemy of David, David loved him. Although we are an enemy to the cross when we don’t obey God’s holy word, God yet loves us. Despite our faults, our good judgment being clouded, God go along with us and know that we are doing wrong, hoping that we would shake the enemy off of us and come to ourselves. He gives us a time of repentance. Except we get rid of the enemy in us, we will be chastened of the Lord and sometime we find ourselves facing death. One day when we wake up and realize that we are wrong, it may be judgment day.





The Enemy In Us

II Samuel 13:1
And it came to pass after this that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister whose name was Tamar and Anmon the son of David loved her
And Amnon was so vexed that he felt sick for his sister Tamar, for she was a virgin and Amnon thought it hard for him to do anything to her

Sometime we are our own worse enemy. The law forbade relationships between family members no such thing should ever happen.

Amnon lusted for his sister so bad that he allowed that spirit to consume him causing him an enemy within. The devil used his mind to conceive thoughts and plans in him that would later bring death to him. You see when sin is conceived, it bring forth death. He even discussed his desire with his friend who helped him in his deception rather that dissuade him from carrying out this horrible evil. We can want something or someone so badly, we would go to many lengths to get it, even if it takes us out of the will of God and we don’t care who we use. The enemy in us will force us to fulfill our lusts, which when it is finished often turns to hatred because we have disobeyed the will of God. True love never fails.

This boy went as far as to force his sister to have sexual relations with him. Then he hated her because he went against the will of God as well as the house of his father and he knew it was a penalty to pay for what he had done. He had her put away from him. He had stolen her glory. When we realize what we have done, then we look to place the blame somewhere. Usually the innocent person that has been used is the one blamed because the other person can’t stand to face the true person that they are. When you go against the will of God, you open up the doors for the enemy (the devil) to do things to you. He will bring a reproach against you after he has used you to bring a reproach against your father. He hates you as much as he hates God.

Here comes the plot of revenge against Amnon. Absalom hated his brother for what he did, but he didn’t let Amnon know one way or another that he knew what he had done. Absalom planned Amnon’s death in II Samuel 13:28, then afterward he fled his home for his own life. As a man soweth, that also shall he reap, as he would have been put to death for killing his brother Amnon. This is what happens to us when we don’t let God fix things in our lives. We go before God and in most cases causes us to sin and fall from grace. You have three people lives messed up, Amnon is dead, Absalom is guilty of his death, and Tamar grieved and vexed over the whole situation. How many lives will we mess up, when we don’t live what we preach?






Enemy In Your Home

II Samuel 14
In this chapter Joab the son of Zeriiah perceived that David’s heart was toward Absalom, so he plots to get David to let Absalom come back home. David’s yearning to see his son Absalom sets the stage for his return and the resulting rebellion. Absalom dwelt two years in Jerusalem and saw not his father’s face, as David had commanded Joab, he could come home but to stay out of his face. It’s hard to look upon the sin in the face of the one that has sinned against you and it’s hard for them to face the anointing in you. David opens the door for the enemy to come in, he invited the trouble to come in. If God has delivered us from sin and has cleaned us up, why do we go back and wallow in the things? Why do we give ear to the things we gave up? Why do we render our hearts to things not of God? Our house is cleaned and garnished, then we let the enemy in and he brings company with him. After the house has been cleaned and a door has been opened to that thing again, seven more demons come back with it. Saints if you are rid of the enemy, let it be. Thank God and go on. Don’t let no one deceive you into taking it back. The enemy of the house can attack your mind, he can attack your body, he can even cause your destruction. It’s bad when your enemy is in your house, you never know what’s going on, it comes upon you unaware. But your real enemy you will watch their move, but you least expect to find them in your own house. David was an enemy to Urius. Urius was a member of David’s household, but David took Urius wife, Bathsheba, had Urius killed and Urius loved and respected David. He also loved all the people whom he protected and all those that fought with him on the field so much that he would not touch his pregnant wife, (who was impregnated by David while Urius was on the battlefield) with permission, while they were yet on the battlefield. Because they could not enjoy a moment with their wives and his loyalty to them he was killed. Sometime you will be killed or persecuted for righteousness sake but the Bible say blessed are you, just be righteous anyway. Can you see that what you do, your sin fall upon your children. When David’s eyes was feasted upon Bathseba to desire her, Amnon was in his seed; When he killed Urius, Absalom was in his seed; when he took Bathseba, Tamar was in his seed. He suffered death not only to the child that was conceived of this deception, because of their unfaithfulness but amidst the other children also. Be ye not deceived, God is not mocked, whatsoever a man soweth, that also shall he reap. Note the word, that same thing, it didn’t say something, but that same thing. So if you don’t want it, don’t sow it. You should be a Christian, Saints should just be afraid to do some things anyway.










Enemy In The Church

II Samuel 15:6

The enemy will steal your children, he will steal your husband, your wife, all of your goods, and all of your dreams. When it come to the church, people you have to be so very careful of what kind of spirits you entertain. If you are with somebody and you want to live right and they don’t want to do the things that becometh holiness, they have a rebellious spirit and you need to get away from them, because if the spirit in them is stronger that yours, they will draw you away. The Devil knows just what to use to draw us away from God, the pride of life, the lust of the eye and the lust of the flesh. Because the Devil is cunning, he’s conniving, he’s out to destroy the program of God. You have to remember that he was in heaven with God and tried to revolt against the Kingdom of God, was kicked out and is here with the same agenda. There’s nothing new, he don’t have a mind of his own, so he don’t know nothing new until he can use us to speak our mind, our thoughts, our ideas. You have the ups on him and don’t know it. He never had the HOLY GHOST! We must realize that God tells us all things are become new with him. The Devil trips us up with the same thing over and over again, time and time again. He is still the enemy of God and he’s our enemy too. When he gets through with you, what do he do? He destroys you. Here he has communed with Absalom to revolt against his own brother, now his father. Because he was never properly dealt with, he was allowed to continue his rebelliousness, deceiving the people of God. How many times do we see Pastors in churches not deal with the sin of the people and those same people causes all kind of havoc in the church. You can rest assured he has some kind of sin in his own life that he won’t confront and don’t want no one else to confront it. God will hold us accountable for the things we won’t confront in our paths that we know it to be wrong. We see everybody else’s wrong and offer suggestions to them to correct it, but we ourselves can’t get delivered.

People, the Bible was written to us, the people of God. How many times is the Pastor rebelled against because he speaks the truth, the Missionary because she tells someone to lower the hemline of their skirt or raise the button on their shirts so their cleavage
( which leave nothing for the imagination) won’t show? They hang their thighs in someone eyes, they sat at the end of the pew, and they know what’s showing. They want them to see. It’s not cool for your skirts to be so short that you wear them like boxers, they are like a second set of skin. The skirts should be no more than four inches above the knee and that’s to short. The spaghetti straps they just got to go, they leave too much flesh on parade. They allow the enemy to speak to their minds and before you know it, he tricks you into thinking that you are hurt, so what? Get over it. The next thing you are looking at is that the purpose is ugly and before you know it you are out of the church. He just tricked you out of your purpose, just like he tricked Absalom out to his rightful place to the throne. Eventually if you don’t catch yourself, you will backslide completely and then comes death, or the things that take you over, you will wish that you were dead.

Remember, David trusted his Kingdom in his son’s hand, and it’s only natural that you want whatever you have to be passed on to your children. David allowed Absalom to judge the people, whereby he judged the people, but he used his office to steal the hearts of the people to himself and turned them against his own father, the King.
We have to be careful in whom we entrust the people of God and the things of God to. Anybody just can’t come in our midst (titled or untitled) and speak to us. They must share our vision, given by God. We must all speak and believe the same things. It’s not about winning people to us, but to God and when we do it any other way, God will destroy it. He will have no one before him or over him. Whoever is bringing the word of God, no division should come, and no one should lead the people to them. It’s all about God. That spirit of sowing seeds of discard is destructive, it a stink in God’s nostrils and you are on your way down. It’s an abomination and God hates it. Absalom was guilty of everything Proverbs 6:16 says. These six things doth the Lord hate; ye, seven are an abomination unto him. A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among the brethren.

Don’t get caught up in the death trap, beware of the enemy in us, the enemy in the church, the enemy in the house is a destroyer, it is as powerful as you allow him to be. Remember he doesn't just come in, but you invite him in, you open the door for his entrance.

David trusted his Kingdom in his son’s hand, so as God trusted Satan with the angels in heaven.

How many times do we trust things into the hands of others?

We trust our Sunday School into the hands of the Superintendents,
We trust our churches in most cases in the hands of the Deacon or Pastor,
We trust our children in the hands of the school personnel,
We trust our neighbors to watch our houses when we are gone,
We trust our children to walk to the store around drug dealers,
We trust our co-workers around our desks and work,
We trust our husbands or wives to go and come, to be around other people,
But do we really trust God.

Some of the people we put our trust in is an enemy to the house, but listen, our whole trust should be in God always. He will never leave you, nor forsake you. I’ve realized that some of the very people that you walk with everyday are apt to be used by the Devil at anytime. He uses the closest people to us, because they are the ones that will hurt us the most, your husband, your wife, your children, and the church people.

People in the church can steal the hearts of the people to themselves and cause all kind of havoc for another person. The boy, Absalom ran his daddy completely out of the house. Sometimes people with like kinds of spirits will run people away from the church with their jealousy, envy and strife. David had to flee for his life. He would have died at the hands of his own son had not the anointing been upon his life.

God said he would be an enemy to your enemies,
He would still the enemy,
He will set a table before you in the presence of your enemies
They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow down before him and his enemies shall lick the dust
He will make you wiser than your enemies
Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful and you will die, ask Judas.

Don’t fear your enemies, the Bible says, so shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west and his glory from the rising of the sun, when the enemy comes in like a flood, the spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

Deliverance will be from the Lord, that’s why it pays to stay with God, stay on his side, and stay in God’s will.
