Receive Many Times

“Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.” Luke 18:29-30 NIV

This world offers a deceiving appeal, an appeal to fame, fortune, wealth, and other worldly treasures. There are three problems with these appetizers. First, none of the above can provide true happiness to the recipient. Any of these will just lead to desire for more of the same. And yet, happiness will not be obtained. Secondly, these earthly treasures will be lost with the passing away of the mortal body. They are not eternal gifts. Thirdly, the eternal fate of those who live for worldly desires is an eternal doom.

Consider the gifts of Christ, salvation, peace, joy, love, intercession, eternal life, and much more. These are what bring true life to its recipient.

The world offers instant gratification, while Christ offers eternal blessings. This does not seem like much of a comparison to me.

Why not take Christ at His word? You will find the eternal blessings received through Him are much more than you could have ever hoped to have. They are yours to be received. Just truly give yourself over to Christ, and receive many blessings.
