God's Measure for You

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Luke 6:37-38 and 41-42 NIV

We must take notice here: the measure we use in treating others will be used to measure unto us. If we wish God to have eternal mercy upon us, then we must show mercy to others. We are told that we must treat others in the same manner we wish them to treat us.

We must not judge others. Instead, we must let the indwelling Holy Trinity work on us to make us as God wants us to be. We have imperfections within us. We have things that God needs to change. He will not work on changing us though if we spend our time telling others where they are wrong and need changing. We must allow God to change the hearts of others and the changes they need to make. The only person we can work on changing is ourselves, and that is plenty enough for each of us.

We know for a fact that what Christ says is true. So, if we don’t judge we won’t be judged. If we do not condemn we will not be condemned. If we truly forgive, we will be forgiven. Do you wish to avoid judgement and condemnation and do you wish to be forgiven? Then, do as the Lord says. You are in God’s hands!
