READ FOR YOURSELF: Exodus 17-20

TODAY’S KEY VERSE

“Now I know that the Lord is greater than all the gods; for in the very thing in which they behaved proudly, He was above them.” EXODUS 18:11 (NKJV)

--WE ARE LIKE HIM, NOT THE OTHER WAY-- 

The call to Christ-likeness is a desire in our hearts to become more like the God who loves us. That means the old person we used to be dies, and we allow the Spirit to invade our lives to transform us into His image. But what is God like? While He took up form as we are, understands the limitations of our humanity, and the constant struggle with emotions, God is not like us.

As humans the flesh rules us. Upon receiving salvation, we are forgiven of our sins. At the time of entire sanctification, the Holy Spirit empowers us to live above the weakness of the flesh. But while holiness is possible instantly, it is also a process. The Spirit makes us aware of the monsters hidden in our closets and expels them.

All that being said, God loves us. Not once does He stop. He never repays our evil with evil, but instead with grace. When we reject Him, or forget His existence, He does not forget us and is always accepting of us. Without the help from the Holy Spirit we are incapable of loving in this manner. Praise His name; we serve a God who is not us.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to let your image reflect through me. May others seek to know you because of the amazing work you are doing in my life. Amen.
