‘First, let me give you the good news.’

When I was working with infants and toddlers, behavior problems were normal. I received wise advice from my employer at a Christian childcare center. He suggested that when talking to their parents, I first share something positive about the child. Sadly, I did not always remember to break the ice with praise for the child.

The soft approach is an act of kindness.

I can tenderly sugar coat my words. A good dose of TLC (tender loving care) builds strong relationships.

“A gentle answer turns away anger,
but a harsh word stirs up wrath.

The tongue of the wise makes knowledge attractive,
but the mouth of fools blurts out foolishness (Proverbs 15:1-2 HCSB).”

What kind of example am I leaving?

“She opens her mouth with wisdom
and loving instruction is on her tongue (Proverbs 31:26 HCSB).”

This is my desire.
