The New Year is quickly approaching. The ending year has been full of challenges for me.

One very excellent highlight from the past year has been the Lord guiding me to write for Him and the glory of the Holy Trinity. This venture has resulted in me delving more into scripture and prayer in order to write for Him.

What can we do in establishing resolutions for the New Year that will draw us closer to our Lord?

First, we must make sure the resolutions we make are doable, and that we truly have the desire to carry these resolutions out. If we find ourselves slipping in carrying out the resolutions, we can  always go to the Lord in prayer and ask Him to help get us back on track.

So, what are some doable resolutions we can handle?

Many of us can assuredly admit that we could spend more time reading God’s word. Even with my escalation in reading scripture, I certainly can take the time to read more. Remember that God’s word is truth, and nothing but truth. Is not seeking the truth a key to a fruitful life, a life with true meaning?

We can spend more time in prayer with our Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ, our Savior. Here I don’t refer to the 15 second “Hi God, how are you? It is me here.” I am talking of quiet time in a secluded place without distractions surrounding us. This does not need to be for a long time period. Even 15 to 30 minutes spent in prayer with the Father and the Son can provide wonderful results for us. If nothing else we will feel a closer connection to the Father and the Son.

When facing any important life decision, make sure to speak to the Lord about the decision. You can contact human experts on the matter. But, remember the true expert on all matters is our Creator!

When asked by someone how you are doing, or what is happening with you, share about something the Lord is doing in your life. Sometimes these small shares can have a true impact on the other person. Always be willing to share about how the Lord is working in your life.

Be prepared to share prayer with others as needs arise. Ask the person if you can pray with them. Don’t worry about the words. The Spirit will give you words to utter.

Begin and end each day with a prayer to God. It can be short. What a better way to start and end your day than by communicating with our Creator and Savior.

Hopefully the above is doable for most of you. Just do what you can. If you have a true heart the Lord will know that which you do. May you all have a blessed New Year in the Lord!!
