The China Doll on the shelf stands tall,
With crimson elegance its beauty shines.
But still the porcelain face reveals a fragile beauty.
For a fall from the shelf would be the end.
No more would the doll shine, but this reveals,
The connection between me and the doll.
For sometimes I feel I am the fragile doll on the top shelf.
For at any given moment by no fault of my own I might fall.
For a fall from the shelf would be the end, and my beauty would shine no more,
Still I have faith, both that the doll won’t fall, and that I will remain safe.
For if I am the doll on the shelf, maybe this is not my war,
For an object on the shelf is sought after and prized and cherished by the victor,
This means in the battle of life I am the prize, I will be cherished, I will be loved.
The future tense reveals the fragility of the reward for our life is but a battle.
Still I have faith a solution remains, for on a different shelf is a samurai doll,
The Samurai’s face reveals the same fragile beauty of the doll,
But the Samurai is well armored, from head to toe it is protected,
The Samurai looks like it would take a beating if it fell but it would likely be repairable.
The Samurai is protected from the battle that appears constant around it.
In the armor of the doll I feel there is safety, so what is there for man?
If it is not my war then I should try to hedge my beat on who the victor will be,
For a shelf item that supported the victor the entire time is more valuable to the victor.
Thus as man we must assess our choice and decide who to support, or who our master will be.
Will we choose ourselves? Or will we make a different choice to acknowledge a large God?
A God so big that he will rectify all of the evils of the world, while simultaneously loving each of us.
I have chosen to subscribe to that gigantic God who is capable of unimaginable goodness!
So for me it is simple, he has given me the belt of truth to protect my waist,
And the breastplate of righteousness, which I will wear with pride.
He has given me the gospel of peace with which will protect my feet, and teach me,
How to be a truthful and righteous man, for these qualities are developed through actions.
With the shield of faith I will quench all the evil darts from the wicked,
The helmet of salvation will protect my head,
And lastly he has given me the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.
I get to choose which shelf I am on and frankly I have felt like a china doll for far too long,
Now it is time for me to jump to a new shelf and put on my armor,
It is waiting for you and I, so will you jump with me?
