Free gift wrapping.

Many Christmas shoppers forego the wrapping of presents. Frantic, they decide to leave the wrapping to department store staff.

I once applied for a job in gift wrapping for JC Penney, Shopping Town in DeWitt, New York.

As it turned out, I was hired as a clerk in the Ready to wear department, on the same floor as the gift wrapping service. I must admit, the manager made a wise decision. I’m terrible at gift wrapping. In contrast, I had no difficulty wrapping my babies in their cuddly receiving blankets.

Through the inspired writing of Luke, I learn of Jesus’ mother’s tender care. Mary wrapped God’s gift to the world! (John 3:16)

“And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
