Remember When:
Grown-ups seemed so glamorous.
People always said thank you and please.
Moms called you in for supper at dusk.
You played Hide-and- seek in the rain
You climbed trees without a ladder.
Downtown seemed so far away.
You watched TV in the Sears window.
You caught lightning bugs in a jar.
The corner drugstores had fountains.
Most kids had a bike with manual pedals.
You would make a wish on a star.
No one had pedigreed dogs.
You read comic books by the ton
You bought penny candy, and bubble gum.
The Saturday movie matinee cost 9 cents
You drank chocolate milk from a bottle.
You expected each day to be fun for all
You actually played outdoor games
You played marbles in the dirt with friends.
You listened to the Long Ranger on the radio.
You used the outside pay phone to call home.
You actually talked to each other in person.
You played cowboys with toy pistols.
You chased the ice truck to get chip samples.
You visited the car dealer to see the new models
You delivered the Grit papers on Saturday
You built make-believe houses with bottle caps
The World Series was broadcast at school
You walked 5 miles to school in snow
You were punished for chewing gum in school
You read the Bible and prayed in school.
Children actually kept quiet in church
You attended Sunday School on Sunday.
The church hymns came from the Bible
The preacher actually read from the Bible
The people would kneel in church to pray
The preacher would visit the sick

If these few simple "tidbits of the past" bring a smile to your face, whenever they're heard or they're told, it means you were lucky to have had such good times. It also means you are kind of old. So, where did our childhood go?

"
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me". (1 Cor 13:11).
