Gazing from the shore in my listlessness
Every attempt I've made's failed to overthrow
Typecast tie me to the mast even in doldrums rocks to and fro
Am I on the crow's nest straining with my best?
Plow at hand- land ho!-Promised Land
or just 'nother Jonah?
runnin' hidin' sleepin' down below
The apparent command's to go! To a people I can't stand
I'm reluctant so my time doin' nothin' is
time well spent
Spewed from the belly like a dream
I sound the warning horn at half steam
N' even though I'm smelly pale n' parched
But 'stead of expected scorn-ear're arched
Lazing-The Lord prepares a gourd a broad leaf to shadow my grief
N' oh how squirm when it's devoured by the worm
N' oppurtune moment I should turn
I continue only hearty in my pity party
n' still lashing out in spurn
This Jonah's smitten to the bone
but by The Blood atoned
To Him be The Glory Alone
Is His ready made message no credit to me're skills honed
N' this is Jonah's lament
Should I be the only one filled?
afforded this crimson thread
to not just repair the tears but instead
be retrofitted with an incorruptible tent
It's just the same ol' song
one I'm comfortable with to just sing along
You'd think my will'd be strong n' stretched
Consider gone'll be every festering splinter
even if I last through the ultimate challenge of Wormwood's winter
n' at my word all foul spirits duck n' run
even them toting a gun
but more than all this
in Book of Life I'm rolled in
past where righteousness n' peace met together n' landed a kiss
Who should I credit? that I get it
that my name in heaven's scroll is etched.
