JUST TO THANK YOU GOD

“Wealth and honor come from You alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in Your hand, and at Your discretion people are made great and given strength. O our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious Name! But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to You? Everything we have has come from You, and we give You only what You first gave us! We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace.” (From 1 Chronicles 29:1-15)

Where would we be without a living God? Just take a moment to stop and really think about it. What has He actually done for us? Where would we be if He hadn't done those things? Well, (Ephesians 2:12) sums it up well: "Without God and without hope." Without this living God, we could never find our way. Without Him, we all would be eternally lost.

Obliviously we can never thank our Heavenly Father enough. Simply coming to Him in a prayer of gratitude cultivates a relationship like none other. (Ephesians 1:18)

So at this time, I am coming, with heart in hand, thanking God for blessing this great nation of ours, thanking Him for a miracle. Thanks to His blessing, the United States of America is still alive and well. Hopefully His special blessing, fostering our gratitude, will surely cause us and America to make an extra effort to come back to Him.(Psalm 119:169-176)

Now, we have a choice to make. We can go our own way, distracted by the blessing of God, or we can fall at His feet, thanking him in praise and worship for what He has done. If we do this, then we will find He is waiting to give us even more.(Psalm 40:5)

One elder statesman, name unknown, once stated, "Keep your eyes on the gift and just maybe you'll be blessed as long as it lasts. Turn your heart to the Giver, and you'll be blessed for eternity."

This gift is our renewed sense of the American freedom. And this gift has been given by our living God. Now, what will we do with it? How will it affect our lives? (Psalm 57:7-11) Simply put, we must take (Hebrews 12:2) at heart. We must pray for His sovereign guidance, for the enemy has not yet given up. (Ephesians 6:11-12)

Human nature being what it is, the temptation we often face is to run our own lives and then ask God to bless us. What God wants from us is very different. (Psalm 25:1,4-5) He wants our loyalty to His fundamental principles that are recorded in His Holy Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Our future prayers should not be "God give me what I want" or "Please make my life on this earth better.” They should be "Lord, what do you want? How may I best serve you? What do you want me to do for you and your kingdom today?"

In other words, our prayers for His guidance and direction all have dependence as their starting point. We must depend on our living God, and simply pray. (Psalm 9:1-2)
