AUTUMN REFLECTION

The yellow maples
The majestic oak
The sound of the woodpecker's cry,
I've journeyed to colorful autumn's domain
And collected my soul with a sigh.
For I've come to appreciate falltime
As my life reaches similar season
And I stand at the threshold of something important
Though I can't quite grasp hold of the reason.

When my Lord walked this earth, He was taken
With the thought that mankind needed saving
And in spite of our kicking and screaming
We find peace when we cease all our raving.
And remember that Christ paid a ransom
It was costly beyond human measure
My eternal home paid for in agony
My redemption the Savior-bought treasure.

Now I watch as the leaves upon breezes
Do their odd dance to fall and be silent
And I ponder that I had my own dance
But it slowly winds down, though once vibrant.
Once again I am thankful that God planned
Long ago to paint Autumn in glory
For the beauty displayed
As I kick through my days
Is a wonderful, bounteous story.
