Bitterness: A Silent Killer

I am convinced above all else that bitterness is a poison to the soul. One that will carry you into an eternity without God, simply because Christ went to the cross to eradicate all sin, once and for all. There was no room whatsoever for bitterness to be present on that fateful day. If anyone could have held to bitterness and grievousness's it was the precious Son of God.

There are people today who are steadfast in holding on to bitterness and every other kind of evilness of the heart but I can tell you, holding on to them, is a terrible mistake. You may be asking, “What gives her the right to talk about bitterness?” “How does she know what I am going through ?” I too, have seen the perils of events that could have driven me to a life of blaming God and people.

From a high school sweetheart dying way to young due to cancer. A husband who professed to be a Christian, but then molested our three and a half old son. And years later, marrying a man who backslid and no longer wanted a Christian wife---handing me divorce papers with the words--”Get Gone.”Yes, I believe I have the experience of the ugliness of a life that could have been the breeding ground for such a thing as bitterness.

What kept me from living a life free of that? My relationship with Jesus Christ. There is no one like him, nor will there ever be. He is the supreme example for us human beings. We are to follow in the Master's steps. If we refuse to do so, than are we really his? Love is what propelled him to the cross of Calvary and held him on the old cruel tree---for the redemption of mankind.

If someone has deeply wounded you in this life you are not alone. IF you have repented of your sins and asked him into your heart, than you will be saved. But the christian life is way more then just saying a prayer, it is a full commitment of the heart, and following him all the days of your life!

Bitterness if taken root will ultimately lead you where you don't want to go. Christ is waiting with open arms to receive you. Come to him and give all the ugliness of your situation to him. He already knows every finite detail of your life. After all he created you and went to a cold bloody cross so you can have your sins forgiven and live with him in eternity.
