Deeds Done in the Light

“This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” John 3:19-21 NIV

The words of our Lord are so profound and true. Light is associated with good deeds. It is much easy to conceal evil deeds in darkness. Light brings forth truth as much more can be seen. And, our Lord is the true light that came into the world, the light which brings forth truth. Christians want their good deeds to be seen, not for any glorification for us, but for glorification for the Father and the Son. Jesus is the perfection of light in the world. The believer feels wonderful to be able to do actions that glorify the Father and the Son. These good deeds can be seen much easier when there is light. An evil doer is afraid of light, and will hide from it so that their evil deeds will not be seen. In this manner they can proceed with their evil.

The Lord teaches us all truth through scripture. I am so thankful that we have His (and the Father’s) will revealed to us. Scripture is truly our spiritual nourishment. Without this spiritual nourishment our spirits would quickly become dead and be lost to the desires of this world.

Let us always feed on the Word of God and share it with those that we meet!
