"You stiff-necked boys
What makes you proud?
Can't you hear the chanted
Praises of the crowd?
I don't understand
Why you haven't bowed
Do you see I'm heating
Up my furnace?"

"Exalted King
You are misproud
To think that you
Will see us cowed;
To your blind stone idol
We will not bow
'Tho we hear the bellows
Of your furnace."

"Foolish lads!
I won't allow
Such disobedience
From such as thou.
Your stony hearts
I will see plowed
Once you smell the fire
Of my furnace!"

"O King,
We cannot disavow
Our Sovereign Lord
And even now
He may save us
And not allow
Us to taste the brimstone
Of your furnace."

Frustrated King
With furrowed brow
Gave bellowed command
With spittled howl,
"Throw them in
And see them now
Feel the power
Of my furnace!!"

The belching smoke
Then did enshroud
And fire bright
This sight allowed
Tho three went in
'Twas now a crowd--
There was a fourth Man
In the furnace!

Astonished king
Then cried aloud
"Bring them out!"
And quite unbowed,
Three young men stepped
Before the crowd,
Knowing God had saved them
From the furnace.

You stiff-necked people
Why are you so proud?
Can't you hear Him calling
Your name out loud?
I can't understand
Why you haven't bowed;
Don't you know He's
Heating up His furnace?
