I stay at home most of the time. We only have 2 cars. My wife takes one to her work and my daughter uses the other one for school and work, so I hardly ever use one except occasionally to make a quick trip to the pharmacy or to the grocery store, so it adds a little extra drama to what I’m about to tell you.
This all started a couple of weeks ago, the first time it happened didn’t affect me at all. I was listening to XM Radio. I’ve started listening to the latest hits on 3 of my favorite stations that I have preset on the radio. It was just me in the car for a short drive to the store when this song came on called “Shut Up And Dance With Me”. I did not like that song. It was an oldie too! So I switched stations and it was being announced on the next station too! So I went to option number 3 and got away from it. At that point, I had no reason for concern. Just a little coincidence that 2 stations were playing the same oldie at the same time when I was in the car by myself for a few minutes, right?
Fast forward to about a week ago. I had to use the car again to run to the pharmacy. I hadn’t been in the car by myself since last time. On the way to the pharmacy you’ll never guess what song came on. “Shut Up And Dance With Me” was grinding my nerves again! So I hit option number 2 and guess what song was playing?! You guessed it. I started panicking for a second until I went to option 3 and it was gone. I really started to question what was happening at that point. This was just too much of a coincidence. But, it still could be just a silly coincidence. I didn’t tell anyone about it. Not even my wife. Surely it couldn’t be God trying to talk to me. That would just be silly! God doesn’t speak through terrible songs! Does He? My wife wouldn’t believe me if I said that I think God is trying to tell me something! And she would ask, how do I know? And my answer would be that he keeps playing Shut Up And Dance With Me for me! Too much. It just can’t happen.
Fast forward to a few days ago. Once again Im in the car, by myself, and I turn on the radio. Instantly the DJ announces an old hit song and starts to play it. Yes, it’s THAT song AGAIN! I immediately start breathing faster. My heart starting to beat faster. I turn to option 2 to escape. This is just too much to believe. Guess what’s playing on option 2? Yep! Now I’m really panicking! What’s going on here?! I quickly escape to option 3, but there’s no escape. That song is playing on ALL 3 stations! I turned it off! I can’t believe what I’m hearing. Is this really happening? Am I dreaming or something. Things like this don’t happen to people like me! Why is this happening? Why God? What are you trying to tell me? I’m so confused!
I was totally stunned. Speechless. I’m still trying to take it all in. Did it really happen? Yes it did? But I can’t believe it really happened. This keeps going around and around in my mind. And why did it happen? What am I supposed to do? What does it mean to shut up and dance with Him? There is so much to think through. Sure, I can get the message to drop all your worries, all your problems and “dance” with the Lord. He will guard and protect and provide. But why was I chosen for a personal message. At this point I KNOW for a fact that something’s going on. There’ s NO WAY that it was a coincidence. I know that He is happy with my nature photography by the emotions and spirit I’ve felt. I now know that it was He who was with me and guiding me. I now know that I’m doing exactly what he had planned for me all along. It just took an auto accident to change my path.
I hope you’ll follow me on Facebook and Instagram as I continue this journey of faith, and I try to find out what God wants me to do next. Whatever it is, I’m so looking forward to it! In the meantime, I’ll just shut up and dance with Him!
Please note: My name is Norman Rowsey, and let me preface this story, and I have many others, by telling you that I was involved in a near death auto accident several years ago. I barely survived, thanks to God, but I did, and still do, endure the lasting effects so I couldn't return to work. So in order not to go stir crazy being house bound, I took up photography, since I had a background in art and had always wanted to be a photographer. My hands are better suited for a shutter button than a brush! That was about 2 years ago, and ever since my life has taken on a whole new meaning. There are things that happen when it's just me and the camera, alone in nature, where I have witnessed some amazing sights, and have felt the spirit of God while they happened. I have come to believe, firmly, that God spared me for this reason. To photograph and showcase his amazing creatures in the height of their beauty. Before the accident, I was skeptical at best, but I am hoping that the stories I will share with you will convince you as it has me, that God is real. He is so real and so awesome! I hope that if it only one person reads my stories and is convinced and becomes a firm believer like me, all of this is worth it.
