The List

I have a long list in front of me
It’s a list of what a “Christian” can and cannot do
It’s a long list-so bear with me
I don’t know if I’ll ever make it through

What? I am not supposed to be sad or cry
Oops-I’ve messed up there
That one I’ll let slip by
For often times I have a cross to bear

Besides, didn’t Yahweh, Our Father Himself
Say that we are to call upon His Name
To cry unto Him for needed help
That in calling unto Him is no shame

Here’s another I don’t understand
With a sinner-do not have company
Oh my-does that mean to avoid every man
For haven’t all sinned and come short of His Glory

Must be some typo there too
For I know that Yahshua died for all mankind
He shed His Blood for all sinners–me and you
He’s the only perfect one you can find

Something’s wrong with this list
Whoever wrote it sure had no fun
Don’t do that-don’t do this
What happened to living abundantly through His Son?

He gave His life upon the Tree
So I could live and enjoy my life
Yes, I know what happened-it must be
Whoever wrote that list couldn’t type

It says I can’t get angry
Oh but I mess up there-because I do
I cannot help but get angry when I see
His Word, His Name being abused

We can teach Santa Clause and Easter Bunny
But don’t say God or Jesus–for that’s a shame
Oh Satan-he’s clever-very cunning
Taking away the use of Our Gods’ name

It says not to speak of hell
Or of the misery of the fire there
Now, now, now-ain’t that swell
I myself, say, Beware

This list is way too long for me
Think I’ll just throw it away
I’ll read His Word so I can see
Just what I should do today
