In 2 Timothy first chapter and tenth verse the apostle Paul writes to his spiritual son Timothy (who, incidentally, is the only one in the New Testament referred to as a "man of God", a phrase thrown around quite freely these days) that Christ "brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. "   At least part of what that means is that Jesus revealed the true nature of human life as being but a preparation for eternity.  We are all eternal beings who will be held accountable for how we've lived and loved (in the "love laboratory" here on earth) and how we've responded to the sacrificial work of Christ on our behalf.  What we do here and how we do it are merely the jacket notes on a book that has yet to be opened.  There is a true sense in which our real life and identity hasn't begun yet, but how and on what level it begins, and whether it's heavenly or hellish,  has everything to do with how we navigate this present journey upon which we are all embarked.  This is both a consolation and a stern challenge presented,  or an encouragement and even a warning depending upon what we are experiencing and upon what choices we are making imdividually and collectively at any given time.
