"There they nailed him to the cross. Two others were crucified with him, one on either side, with Jesus between them."(John 19:18)

My sins were nailed to the cross

His suffering and pain not in vain

²⁵ So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” ²⁶ A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”²⁷ Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”²⁸ Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:25-28)

 I can just imagine the conversation that dreadful time in history.

Pilate told them, “You take him and nail him to a cross! I don’t find him guilty of anything.”

Kill him! Kill him!” they yelled. “Nail him to a cross!”

“So you want me to nail your king to a cross?” Pilate asked.

The chief priests replied, “The Emperor is our king!”  Then Pilate handed Jesus over to be nailed to a cross.

Jesus was taken away,  and he carried his cross to a place known as “The Skull. In Aramaic this place is called “Golgotha.”  There Jesus was nailed to the cross, and on each side of him a man was also nailed to a cross.

 Pilate ordered the charge against Jesus to be written on a board and put above the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” ²⁰ The words were written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek.

After the soldiers had nailed Jesus to the cross, they divided up his clothes into four parts, one for each of them. But his outer garment was made from a single piece of cloth, and it did not have any seams. ²⁴ The soldiers said to each other, “Let’s not rip it apart. We will gamble to see who gets it.” This happened so that the Scriptures would come true, which say,

“They divided up my clothes

Have you ever ask anyone for forgiveness ? Were you forgiven ? I trust that you were granted that forgiveness (Psalm 1:1-2). In reality, sin may be forgiven (1 John 1:9), but the scars, will always be there, as a reminder, of our sins. You see, often times it's much easier to forgive, than forget. The results of our sins will linger on (Psalm 40:12). Remembering how much my sins cost Jesus helps me be a better friend to those I have wronged (Psalm 31:10).
