You’re Important! Really!

God knows any and every thing about you, right down to the exact number of cells in your entire body and hairs on your head! For some of us that is not a very pleasant thought. It can make some people think of God as a nosey, busy body or a private investigator who tracks a person’s every move and thought. Still others imagine God as having a thick file on all the times they have been bad or good throughout their earthly life. When they die, God will go over their life. Scary!

While physically present on earth, Jesus told humankind that the Father and He know every hair on the human head not to frighten people into behaving. Rather Jesus made this statement to demonstrate how much God cares about each and every human being. With God, every person is special. He loves each individual and keeps up with everything a person does.

To know every thing about a person in an intimate way is beyond the human capacity to process such a skill. The human mind is generally able to notice only those things that stand out from the crowd or that we pay special attention to. Humans spend millions of dollars to build zoos to marvel at rare animals but fail to notice even the presence of a common sparrow. Crowds of humans, for the most part, are often perceived of faceless blobs to most. So when a person finds themselves in large public gatherings or in a large city, people generally cannot help but feel unimportant. We do not stand out.

God, however, does not get overwhelmed by numbers. Since time began billions of sparrows have flown over the earth. Yet God can tell stories about each and every sparrow. Likewise, there are billions of living people on the planet earth. God could write volumes about every person. God cares so much that He would enthusiastically share what we would think is our most insignificant joy and make us feel on top of the world.

For many of us, it seems that we do not count for much to most people around us. But God speaks to us through the Bible that each and every person is valuable enough to be worth His time every second of the day!
