I cried the night he died.

"Mary, you have to put yourself together. Tears will not bring him back. We should be thinking of ways to keep his body fresh."

I blew my nose again into the wet napkin on the table. What use was a fresh dead body to me if I can't get shrieks of laughter to my humorous words.

I love him!

The tears returned. My body vibrated. It'd been two days since his death and memories of the endless hours I sat beside him listening to his soothing words haunted me. I couldn't wipe his broad smiles out of my mind. Who can fill this void?

"Mary."

I turned to face Salome. Her eyes were red. She avoided my eyes as she spoke.

"We have to be at the sepulchre before sunset." She said and placed the aloes before me. Slowly I began to wrap the spices into a small cloth but the tears kept blurring my sight. .

Few hours later, we left the house.

Suddenly, I remembered that a large stone had been placed at the entrance of the sepulchre the day he was buried. A shiver ran down my spine. "Who will roll the stone away?"

Salome and the other women stood, considering different alternatives. There was no way we could roll the stone away.

"Look!"

I stared at the sepulchre. My eyes widened. We ran.

The tomb was empty. My heart thumped. I left the women and ran to Peter's house.

I banged on the door severally. Peter opened the door, angrily.

"How- what, for goodness sake, do you know what the time is?"

Someone was peering over his shoulder, assessing the intruder.

"The tomb. Empty."

The two men sped past me. By the time I returned to the tomb, the dead man was nowhere to be found. Every search proved abortive. Soon they returned home. I was left at the tomb. I sat on the stony ground and wept.

When I had no strength to cry, I returned to the tomb, hoping I'll see him again. I entered, stunned to see two men in white.

What's going on?

I stepped out and saw a man standing close to the tomb. I ran to him. The tears had returned. My voice was shaky as I tried to speak.

"Why are you crying? Who are you looking for?"

"Please,if you have taken him away, just show me where he is. "

"Mary."

I raised my head. I looked at the man closely. This is Jesus! I muttered.

"Rabboni!" I said.

I ran to hug him. He stopped me. In a soft voice with his face beaming with smiles, he said, "Don't touch me yet. Go tell my brothers that I'm going to meet our father and our God."

Jesus is alive! My heart screamed as I ran to deliver the message.
