The Little Brown Chair

Luke 6:38

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down,

shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.

For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Giving and being a blessing to others is what I strive to do each

day. To help someone have a better day, to make things easier

for them. Just to put a smile on their face. And sometimes we are

a blessing to someone and we don't even know it. But God has

a better plan.

Hebrews 11:40

God had planned something better for us so that only together

with us would they be made perfect.

A few years ago I was looking for a new rocker/recliner, as mine

was starting to break down and I knew I was going to have to

replace it. So I started looking in some of my catalogs I like and

I found this really nice brown recliner. Looked really good,

microfiber material (which I love), perfect color (brown) and the

right price, low shipping charge, the whole works, just what I

wanted, or so I thought.

So I ordered it and waited with excitement for it to arrive. The day

finally came and I was working, but my husband received it and

opened the big box. There it was, my brown rocker/recliner. He

called me, said your chair is here. I was so excited and then he

told me, "It is very small, like an apartment size chair, pretty but

small". I was so disappointed. I got home and sure enough it was

to small for me. So I found the return label and decided the only

thing to do was to return it. So we boxed it back up and proceded

to send it back. But wait, I had to pay for the return shipping (which

I did not realize when I ordered it). Well the return shipping was

almost as much as the cost of the chair itself, so I decided I would

just keep it and sell it myself. So back home we came. Took it out

of the box and set in the living room and put an ad in the paper to

sell it. No buyer came, no one even called about it. I was very

disappointed, but thought I'll just keep it for a while.

So for a few years we kept it and a few people would sit in it, but

not to many. One of our very dear and close friend sat in it everytime

they came and it fit her perfectly. Well as time went by she got sick

with cancer and had to have back surgery. She was still recovering

from that when our New Year's Eve Gospel Sing came about (we

have one every year). She wanted to come, but knew she would not

be able to sit very long in those chairs that were there, so we told

her, we will take this little brown chair and she could sit in it and

recline as she needed to. Well it worked perfect for her. So for  2

years we would take that chair for her so that she could attend

that sing. Oh how I Thanked the Good Lord for that. What I thought

was just a big stupid mistake on my part...God had a Better Plan.

Well our Sweet Precious Friend lost her battle with cancer and is

now with Jesus in Heaven. And we still have that little brown chair.

But oh what a blessing it was for her.

Well as time went by, a sweet couple at our church had to move

out of the house they were renting in a quick hurry as it had been

sold. So they decided to build a new house. They had to store a

lot  of their belongings in different places and in the process some

of their things became damaged beyond using. Well I felt really

bad for them. So we asked them what they needed. They said...

bedding, blankets, bed and she needed a chair, a recliner, as hers

was damaged beyond repair. Wow, a recliner? I called her and told

her, "I have a Little Brown Rocker/Recliner she can have if she wants

it". That same Little Brown Chair that had been a blessing before was

now a blessing again for another sweet friend. She took the chair

and it fit perfect and she loves it. Thank you Sweet Jesus.

You see, God took a mistake I made and made it a Blessing, not

just to one, but to two Precious Friends. God knew all about who

needed that Little Brown Chair. That's why I was unable to return

it or sell it. Jesus Knows Best.

Psalm 33:11

But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his

heart through all generations.

Thank You Precious Father...Amen!
