What Goes Around Comes Around

We are all well aware that in the long run what goes around in life comes around. What we give to others is returned back to us in some form or the other.
Life is like an echo. If we do good to others, we receive kindness in return. If we give our best shot in life, the very best will come back to us.
If we help someone in need, some other person will help us in our times of trials.
The bonus from heaven comes through others and we too should be a boon to the people around us.

There is a beautiful narrative of a teenage boy who did door to door errands to cover his educational fees. It so happened that on one cold day, he knocked at the door of a young woman who used to live alone in order to deliver a parcel to her.
The woman saw that the boy was shivering in the cold and he looked like he could do with a warm hot drink. So she calls him inside and makes him sit near the fireplace to warm himself while she goes and prepares a big glass of hot milk for him to drink.
The boy quickly gulps down the milk and looks at the woman with grateful eyes. He thanks her profusely and leaves feeling much better and energetic.
Many years later the same woman gets afflicted with a severe illness and is unable to cover her medical expenses. She is sent by the local doctor to the main city where her treatment begins under the care of one of the doctors in the hospital. She has a long stay in this hospital and finally the day of her discharge arrives when she is fully cured of her ailment.
The doctor treating her visits her personally whilst the medical bill is handed over to her by the hospital staff. The woman with trembling hands opens the bill as she is sure she will not be able to pay for the huge amount incurred during her treatment. As she glances down at the bill, she is astounded to read a single sentence, "Paid in full with a glass of milk."
The doctor treating her was the same teenage boy whom she had once treated to a hot glass of milk. This doctor had immediately recognised the woman when she was first brought in to the hospital and he had at that time itself decided to give her his best care and attention to repay her for the good deed she had extended to him so long ago.
What a lovely story! A truly inspirational one. One good deed deserves another. I think it was more a case of Paid in full with a Dose of Love.

Another touching story that I recall is of a nurse who worked in a mental asylum. Once when a renowned personality who suffered a mental disorder was admitted to the asylum, the doctor in charge requests this nurse to pretend to show a lot of love and care to the patient to help him recover from a broken relationship.
The nurse sets about this task and showers all her love and affection on the man and ends up really falling in love with him. The man too responds to her with love but one fine day he gets completely cured of his mental ailment and he forgets all about this nurse and returns home to start afresh with a new partner.
The nurse wallows in her own sorrow until a time comes when another patient is admitted to the hospital with a mental ailment. This time too the doctor requests the nurse to pretend to love the patient so that he can get cured soon like the former one fully unaware of the nurse's plight.
But this time around too, the nurse ends up falling in love with this man. The days soon pass and it becomes clearly evident that the man is back to his normal self. The nurse now knows what to expect. This man too will leave her when he is alright. In fact his fiancee who had left him which led to his illness was now prepared to return back to him.
The nurse can no longer control the turmoil in her mind and she ends up as a mental patient herself. However in a complete rebound this second man whom she loved tells her that he truly loves her even now after being cured and he will wait for her until the day she gets back to her normal self.
A paradoxical story of love! It goes to show the different and varied forms of human emotions. In the end the love that the nurse truly bestowed came back to her.
A Philosopher once said; “Love is a chemical reaction,But it cannot be fully understood or defined by science. And though a body cannot exist without a soul,It too cannot be fully understood or defined by science.Love is the most powerful form of energy,But science cannot decipher its elements.Yet the best cure for a sick soul is love."
Well said! The medicine of love can indeed heal at the fastest rate.

Today we celebrate Doctors Day. A day dedicated to all doctors who work tirelessly around the clock to serve their patients forgetting their own needs and putting the welfare of the ones they treat above everything else.
Norman Cousins once quoted; " Each patient carries his own doctor inside him."
There is an anecdote on how once a car mechanic challenged a heart surgeon that the work they both did was the same. While the surgeon opened up the heart and worked on it, the car mechanic opened up the car and worked on its parts. Then how come there was a disparity in the wages they earned.
The heart surgeon smiled and told the car mechanic that there was a huge difference and asked him to do the same job while the engine was running.

Jesus was truly the greatest Physician of them all. He went around healing the sick, curing the maimed and raising the dead. People followed him with vigour and great faith to receive healing from his hands.
It is said that Doctors cure but God heals.
Jesus empowered his apostles after his resurrection to be great physicians themselves as they set around travelling far and wide both spreading the gospel and healing the sick in the same way as Christ did.
In Matthew 10:7-8 he clearly tells them; "And as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils."
We read various incidents in the Bible on how Peter raises a female disciple Tabitha from the dead. Paul raises Eutychus from the dead.
In the Old Testament, Elijah raises the son of Zarephath's widow from the dead. Elisha raises the son of the Sunammite woman who dies back to life. We read in Kings 13:21 how a man comes back to life after touching the bones of Elisha.

The Bible also cites numerous verses on healing. James 5:14; "Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord."
Proverbs 4:22-24; "Pay attention to what I say.Turn your ears to my words. Do not let them out of your sight.Keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to one's whole body."
Exodus 23:25; " Worship the Lord your God and His blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you."
Till date, we pray to so many saints to intercede for us in times of sickness and pain. These saints too are physicians in heaven praying on our behalf to the heavenly throne to obtain healing for the mortal beings on earth.

Let us salute all doctors on their special day for the many times they have saved patients with their timely intervention and granted good health to the sick who put complete faith and trust in their abilities.
The Good Lord will definitely bless them a millionfold for their noble work. After all, what goes around takes a full turn and comes back to its blessing point.
