Romans 1:11-12 NIV I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.

Our friends are an important part of our lives. They impact us even when we don't realize it. We, on the other hand, also have an effect on others.

Do you long to bless others? Are you mindful of the influence you have on them? Are others better off Spiritually because they are in relationship with you?

As we think on the questions above, we must understand that we are not to be burdened by these questions. God’s plan for our lives is not meant to be a burden. If we'll keep our focus on the Word, then we will be the kind of friend that has a positive, Spiritual influence on others. Our Spiritual ability and our Spiritual influence all depend on our intake of the Word of God. As we abide in the Word we'll begin to find ourselves walking in the blessings of God and in turn, we will bless others. God alone gives us what we need to benefit others.

God’s Word will enable us to sharpen one another. Sharpening is the result of a repetitious action. Our continual focus on the Word makes us sharp and it can sharpen others. A piece of metal may be virtually worthless, but if you take that piece of metal and sharpen it, you can have a valuable tool. Your value to others depends on your intake of the Word and so does their value to you.
