WHY WORRY, JUST GIVE IT UP

What do you do about the trials and testing of your everyday living ? How do you assess the situation ? Do you face them alone ? Do you just leave them be, to eat at you (Psalm 62:11-12) ? Or, do you "take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there", as the old hymn relates (Psalm 89:9-17) ?

When we have questions, we should do as the above scripture passage indicates, go straight to the source, Jesus. You see, our Lord has been there and done that, as the old cliché relates. Jesus understands it all. Is there not enough "doom and gloom" in this old secular world ? Why add to it, fellow believers.

We should never let a worry of any kind perplex our Christian lives, not even for a moment (Isaiah 26:3) . Yes, we can easily take our problems to Him, but often times the hardest point is leaving a particular situation with our Lord, as we just can't let it go it seems. Where is our faith (Psalm 51:10-12) ? We should just simply learn to tell Jesus our problems and then commit it all to Him without any further anxiety on our part. This is the real faith (Hebrews 11:6), and the only way to please our Lord.

My old preacher Daddy, who is now with the Lord, once had a bout with a medication reaction, of which we found him to be allergic. When in the emergency room, he started singing the old familiar hymn "Count Your Blessings", only to rearrange the lyrics somewhat. Instead of singing "Count your blessings, name them one by one", he sang "Count your blessings, name them ton by ton". A good example of faith, would you not agree (Hebrews 12:2).

You see, God never leaves us where we are . With ever effort we make to come close to Him, we're promised He will come close to us (James 4:8). Just dare delight in God and He not only gives you your heart desires, He becomes it (Psalm 16:7-11).

I know it can be hard to wrap our minds around the fact that our all-powerful, all-knowing Creator wants to talk to us, wants us to bring to Him our troubles. After all, what can we tell Him that He doesn't already know. Yes, the very thought of this can leave us speechless. But God never leaves us trapped within ourselves. When we come to him, we open our hearts and lives to a deeper faith, renewed strength, fresh blessings, and God's power to do immeasurably more than we can ever imagine (Psalm 27:8).

The bottom line here. We should never let a worry of any kind hinder our relationship with our Lord. We should leave these worries in His hands and just let go(Psalm 62:5-8).

Worry is of the devil, as he is the prince of today's world (Ephesians 6:12). However, although we are bound in this world temporarily (Philippians 3:20), if you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next. The Apostles themselves, who converted the Roman Empire, the great men of faith who built up the Middle Ages, the English Evangelicals who abolished the slave trade, all left their mark on earth, precisely because their minds were fixed on Heaven (Hebrews 12:2). It is since we believers have largely ceased to think of the other world(Matthew 6:10) that we have become so entangled with this world (Luke 12:34).

You see, our prayer should not be," God give me what I want" or, "Please make my life on this earth better." It should be "Lord, what do You want ? or, "How can I serve You" ?

The three most important people in our lives should not be, me, myself, and I. They should be, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As we commit ourselves to the Father, He will help us understand that the story He started long ago on Calvary (John 3:16-17) will end well, if we only take His free grace by our faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). Amen !
