We find it oft too common
To live lives of despair,
To find the hours of our day
Almost too much to bear.

Thoughts cycle 'round our problems,
Producing doubts and fears
We worry what the future holds
Today, next week, next year.

We lean on self-reliance,
Our throne becomes control,
And when the road lies shadowed,
We cannot view the whole.

But faith would not be needed
If we could see ahead,
God calls us to a life of trust,
That's what His Word has said.

We recognize our need for Him
When hidden lies the way,
When we're no longer in control
And find a need to pray.

Yes, faith would not be needed
If we could see ahead,
But God's ways are not our ways,
This is His plan instead.
