“We were at church every time the doors were open!”

That’s common for adults that were raised in Christian homes.

Devoted parents did not merely drop off their children for Sunday school or mission groups. Mothers and fathers took their youngsters to age appropriate classes and then attended adult classes. Multitudes of families have been involved in systematic Bible study and worship.

A routine need not be empty ritual.

Consider the customs of Christ Jesus…

“So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read (Luke 4:16 NKJ).”

The Apostle Paul lived and breathed grace. Yet, he too had a worship routine.

“Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews. Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures (Acts 17:1-2 NKJ).”

Will we cease to follow reverent routines?

“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching (Hebrews 10:24-25 NKJ).”
