Architect and Builder in One

In Hebrews chapter 11 of the new Testament we read of a "city with firm foundations whose architect and builder is God."  The foundations of this city will never crumble, for they are eternally a part of the Heavenly Jerusalem, the everlasting city!  Normally an architect doesn't need to get his hands overly dirty in the building process.  He or she is the one with the vision who maps it out with plans and blueprints for the builders to follow.  But God in this chapter is appropriately architect and builder.  I say "appropriately" because God's son Jesus took on human form and definitely got his hands dirty in his life on earth, a life in which he labored in the precise occupation of carpenter/builder, working with wood and stone.  He was more than a visionary, he was also a laborer who brought the vision to tangible reality.  Not only that,  he did such things as wash fishermen's dirty feet and touch lepers to remove their leprosy.  Though he did indeed get dirty physically and touch the unclean he never sinned, which qualified him as the unblemished sacrificial Lamb of God to bear away our sin and inward dirtiness for us!
