Outrageous Jetsons

Oh the outrageousness!

The other night as I stood putting fuel into my vehicle ,
an audible phrase caught my ear that went : "Thanks for making OUR network number one at the pump".
This prompted me into thinking : "Wow! not only are these now almost unnoticed flat panelled propoganda prompter screens everywhere, but they even broadcast multiple networks... enough to where they even rank them."
Then this got me, for some weird reason thinking about that old childhood t.v show
"The Jetsons", and how outrageous it seemed to my young mind when Jane used to talk to George or Elroy on that Flat screen that would pop up when Jane would simply press a button.
(Still looking for that button by the way.)
Or how outrageous it seemed at the time when Captain Kirk would flip open his little device and talk to the Enterprise. Or how outrageous it seemed when Kirk OR a Jetson would simply walk right up to a door and it would just pop open for them to pass through.
It kind of makes me wonder why we are not zipping around in the little hovercrafts that we hear really exists... or why we are not eating a man made, synthetic food...oh yeah, never mind that one !... Or why we don't have a "Rosy the robot" that actually serves US
(as opposed to a drone..who is serving.... ahemmm...who?).
Of course maybe the "powers that be" are patiently awaiting the time that they can "detatch " us from that pesky earth, and THEN "WE" can live that Jetson lifestyle in the middle of nowhere! (or space).
What kind of crazy conveyer belt do they think that they have us running on in order to get THERE ?
Well I say "JANE!! Stop this CRAZY THING!! and "Scotty , beam me up " ... maybe into a world where we can listen to the radio through Gilligan's tooth fillings, and we can change the station when he turns his head.

Of course , maybe I'm just a disillusioned Generation X troglodyte.
