Imagine a pastor standing up these days in front of his congregation and exhorting them I this way: "You've got to stop giving so much! We have too much as it is, so I have to request that you tone it down or stop altogether for awhile. Thanks anyway, but we have no more room for your gifts."
Giving too much, sounds like some kind of oxymoron but that seems to have been the case in Exodus chapter 36 of the Bible, where the giving was to go toward the making of the sanctuary. What a healthy state in which to find a congregation, when they have to be exhorted to ease up on their giving. That, if there ever was one, is a revived and thriving body of believers, not unlike those enthusiastic ones Luke wrote of later in the Book of Acts. "Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul, neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus." (Acts 4 v32-33)
