Walking On Air

When I hear of someone walking on air I think of someone in utter ecstasy.  That is the picture presented in 1Thessalonians chapter 4 of the New Testament when the believers on earth are caught up to meet their returning Savior in the air as a bride meeting Jesus her heavenly Bridegroom.  Even as Peter the apostle had earlier stepped out on the water to meet his master Jesus in his earthly form in a brief preview of things to come, so the believers alive on earth at that time will step out on the air to meet Jesus in His return.  As if it wouldn't be enough of a thrill and a joy to meet Jesus by Himself, that joy is compounded by the fact that He will be accompanied by all our believing loved ones and family, and friends who have gone on to glory before us.  What a glorious reunion is in store for us who believe!  It will be such culminating ecstasy and bliss that even the most imaginative among us could not fully conceive of it!

When Peter walked on the water he became distracted by the surrounding storm and took his eyes off the Master and began to sink.  But the enraptured bride who will be literally swept off her feet and walking on air won't be able to take her eyes off her wonderful Groom,  so captivating will he be!  Those who believe and long for His appearing (2 Timothy 4 v.8) have something so wondrous to which to look forward very soon ahead of them, that the very thought of it put into words from the heart for themselves and others has mighty power inherent in itself to comfort and encourage.  It is even increasing in power to comfort and encourage as the minutes pass, (Hebrews 10 v25) to the extent that we ought if we could never to let it slip one inch or iota or for one micro-second from our grasp and vision!
