Has the songbird now gone quiet,
does the Robin not expect the snow,
does his tiny, little redbreast
palpitate his chest,
when he chases off a big, black crow?

Has the Teacher not signed the Yearbook,
have the student's not said; 'Let's go!?',
without looking back, they scarpered
from 'Old Gloomy', their Headmaster,
shook his head thinking;
What do they know?"

Oh, so many made their reservations,
held their tickets for to see the show,
when it's over, fireworks will light the sky,
then hit the dirt,
like an arrow that had left it's bow.

Then we all make our own resolutions,
empty promises, borne out of fear;
'I'll lose weight', or 'I'll stop swearing',
'I'll forgive', but 'I'll stop caring',
as we all embrace a brand new year!
