James1:
22
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror

24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in what he does.

References for James 1:25

26 If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue,he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.

Ezekiel 13:8

I HAVE NO POWER OF MY OWN,

HOLY SPIRIT I LOOK UP TO YOU HELP ME

I HAVE NO POWER OF MY OWN

I have heard it said that “Going regularly to CHURCH does not make you a Christian, just like standing in a garage would not turn you into a motor-car!”

Like every other battle that we constantly fight in the flesh, the battle, to put a reign on our tongues. Takes the cake! It is oftentimes a fierce battle indeed running often deep into the ancestry.

Words can be and should be edifying just as they can be destructive in the custody of a wicked, nonchalant heart.

The use of words is quite delicate and reason why the Bible enjoins us to be quick to listen and SLOW to speak because just for this VICE, we can miss eternal bliss! This is a constant reminder that we need the most High to help us use our tongues wisely so as not to miss HEAVEN

Words spoken(even written- so long as it has been read) can never be withdrawn to restore a damaged situation.

A man once told his son who had a ‘very short fuse’ to put a nail in a tree in their Garden for every bad and angry word that he spoke in anger. At the end of A WEEK, he asked him to go to the tree and pull out all the nails but alas it was full of holes, then he asked him to try and patch up the holes to make the tree WHOLE again which the son responded to that it was impossible…the father then smiled and says ” so are the wounds that the words the you shoot out cause, the victim of these harsh words can never be emotionally the same again”

The Bible specifically enjoins  us to listen more and talk less, even talking with choice words of wisdom.

This is a very hard thing to do by those who are possessed with the spirit of harsh hateful words

Every time they speak, sarcastic venom is spewed to hurt and crush anyone in its path.

James 3:

My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

Do you see a man who is hasty in words? There is more hope for a fool than for him(The Tongue Is Powerful, But Deadly, and Out of Control !)…Proverbs 29:20

Proverbs 18:21;13:3; 21:23

Ephesians 4:29

Matthew 15:18; 12:39

James 1:

19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters! Let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger. 20 For human anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness. . . 26 If someone thinks he is religious yet does not bridle his tongue, and so deceives his heart, his religion is futile. 27 Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their misfortune and to keep oneself unstained by the world

Isaiah 54:17; John 8: 31

A BRIDLE FOR A TONGUE IS A NECESSARY PIECE OF FURNITURE!
