After days and nights of rain filled troubles
long hours of steady blowing winds
And the silent heart couldn't do nothing
but pray it's hold out till it ends

There are some that don't know the half
but my God he knows the whole
Out of all my trials what waits for me
for there in his hands he holds

My countenance not once did darken,
though at times my heart was sad
But I opened my mouth with praise's
knowing, the good comes out the bad

I refused to go around with my head down
my feeble knees did not give in
For every step God's grace gave strength
when I was, about my ropes end

Every tear that seem to want to fall
he stopped them up with his love
and he extended to me bowels of mercy
from the throne of heaven up above

He settled my feet on a solid ground
a foundation that was his word
When the troubles came to take me out
it kept me from being disturbed

Suddenly lips was saying, oops there it is!
my God is working it out
Faith leaped within with a burst of laughter
though not knowing what it was about

But it was God that made me laugh
in the stillness of the night
Giving me comfort as I quietly sat
letting me know it was all right

Only God can lift the hanging clouds
and reverse the pouring rain
His hands can capture the blowing winds
to help the soul remain

Whenever that God makes you laugh
know something is behind it all
For his sweet spirit makes it oh so plain
and I'd be big, and not small
