The clouds creep,
The sky now overcast.
The trees dance,
The wind blows leaves past.

The flagpole shakes,
The stars and stripes whipping in the breeze.
The leaves dance,
Falling from the trees.

Far away,
The salty water crashes,
Waves dance,
And spray splashes.

The wind howls,
The gale blows,
The boat rocks,
The man rows.

A rock looms,
Unseen and black,
The darkness hides it,
There’s no going back.

The boat nears,
The wood gives way,
The golden-haired man,
Struggles against the waves.

 
Far away,
A golden-haired boy,
Sits in a classroom,
His thoughts at Troy.

Unaware of the struggle,
Out in the sea.
Not knowing the danger,
Of the vicious deep.
