One day a caterpillar grew, while looking back, he thought he knew
he would remain the same for future years.
He carried on in search of food, he found his favoured plant to chew
while other insects danced around in fear.
Then something stopped him in his tracks and told him there's no turning back,
so he decided like a branch, he'd bend.
He trusted in the universe, like poetry, each word a verse,
an explanation whispered, as a friend.
One morning, just before the dawn, this caterpillar was re-born
and what he saw, came as a huge surprise.
On pastel coloured wings he flew, this time he had a bird's eye view
and what a view he saw before his eyes!
Thank Heaven for elusive butterflies.
