I call the Lord in my distress,
From the deep dark depths of my grave;
I cry out in my duress,
Pleading for Him asking to save.

He threw me out into the deep,
Into the vast depths of the sea;
Fear kept me from falling asleep,
As water surrounded around me.

I thought I banished from His sight,
Never to see His holy place;
And never to see His pure light,
Or the feel of His sweet embrace.

The water threatening my life,
The deep sea covered completely;
Seaweed was adding to the strife,
While choking me effetely.

I sank down to the mountain feet,
Sinking to the bed of the sea;
Knowing that death I could not cheat,
This bed was my death bed to be.

But God brought me back from the pit,
As my life was slipping away;
And not sure if worthy or fit,
For me to see another day.

My prayer came to Him in His church,
Contemplating my true value;
In my heart and mind I did search,
How much of it was really true.

Those who worshipped the false idols,
Abandoning their loyalty;
Lustful thoughts as their mind idles,
Thinking themselves as royalty.

Instead I can be sacrificed,
Because I am keeping my vow;
Since I will never be enticed,
In worshipping a golden cow.
