The Silent Majority

Slowly but surely their freedom
Was methodically stripped away
Their rights, their constitution
Literally altered in another way

They cried at the injustice
And the taking away of liberty
Yet, no-one dared to take a stand
The silent majority

Among themselves they complained
Yet, did nothing to right the wrong
The loud, clambering minority
Rose up and grew strong

Yet, the mass that disagreed
Shrieked away so silently
Bowing down to others rules
The silent majority

They didn’t raise a ruckus
Or band together for their cause
All they did was grieve
At what they heard and saw

They didn’t rise above the noise
To challenge the authority
Of those that made the decision
The silent majority

No-one believed it would make a difference
If they took a stand
And fought back against those
That robbed the principles of their land

So they wailed and cried
And wallowed in self pity
Just because they remained
The silent majority
