Poetry
She carried his child in her womb,
While he pursued another.
She gave birth to his children,
One after the other.
He later asked her hand in marriage,
But she refused his offer.
She lived an empty life,
Emotionally detached from her partner.
She found it difficult to forgive,
So she ran for cover.
Driven by fear she could neither,
Trust him or another.
Towards the end of her life,
She said "Yes." to the proposal of another.
She didn't have long to enjoy that new life
For she died a short while after.
Her marriage to another and her death,
Broke the heart of her children's father.
Infidelity destroyed their union;
But he lived hoping to be reinstated as her lover.
Did he repent? Did she forgive?
I'm not privy to that information;
But what I do know is that
There was no reconciliation.

Dear friends and family,
I often thought about the mother of my father's children (his common-law wife) whenever I think about him not being part of my life. Today, I found myself focusing more on her as opposed to my father.
I empathised with her knowing the kind of hurt she would have had to endure. I wrote this poem with the hope that it may help someone in a similar position to her. If you are that person I want to encourage you to get all the help you can in order to release the hurt so that you can live a fulfilled life. It is Satan's desire to destroy, but Jesus came to give you life and life in abundance. 'The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full' (John 10:10, NIV).
Consider the options available to help. Seek help and be free from resentment. Yes, it does hurt and it will take time to heal and re-build trust with your partner but it is possible. If there is no restoration, life still goes on. You'll learn to trust again. Your children need to see their mother in a healthy state of mind so that the impact of the separation can be minimised.
If you know someone who could benefit from this piece, please share it with them. Thank you for reading my thoughts.
May love and light penetrate your thoughts as you move forward into a healthier and more productive future--free of the poison of resentment.
