SEE BEYOND THE PRESENT!
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.Romans 8:18-19;
If you cannot see beyond your present situation and predicament, you’re not likely to have the hope that is required to keep you going in the face of challenges, it’s not certain you’ll reach the goals. In life, each and everyone of us is going through a process, and how that process ends is determined by no one else but ourselves. One thing that makes great difference between successful people and failures is the way they weigh the present and the future. Great people usually place their considerations on the future but mediocres do not see beyond the present; successful people would rather give up the comfort of the present for the future, but failures are too absorbed in the present that the future means nothing to them. There’s certainly no future for a man that cannot see beyond the present!
The life of Christ has left us a perfect example on the way God walks His children into realm of glory which He has prepared for them. Hebrew 12:2 says ‘Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God’. The first thing that helped the Lord Jesus was that He saw the glorious throne, the final destination God had prepared for Him, and this was what He set His eyes upon while going through the sufferings, shame and pains of the cross. The shame of the cross was unbearable, the pains were devastating, but Jesus endured because He saw beyond them, He saw the glory that was set before Him. It is very dangerous when a man cannot see beyond the suffering of ‘now’. We have examples of many people who messed up their glorious future because they failed to see beyond their present predicament. Esau was one man that lost his eternal glory because he failed to see beyond the ‘hunger of now’. Just for a meal of porridge, he traded away his eternal glory and excellence.
Another vital lesson we learnt from Christ our perfect example is that the suffering of the present is not forever. While going through the pains and the challenges of today, it may appear as if you will not survive it, but the Almighty God has promised that He will not forsake you nor leave you alone. The scripture says ‘weeping may tarry till night but joy comes in the morning’. It does not matter how long the night seems to be, it’s bound to usher in a brand new day, the eternal God has ordained that a bright new day must always follow the night! Never allow the night to end the story of your life, a bright new day is ahead of you.
Seeing beyond the present also includes seeing beyond the present enjoyment and achievement. It’s possible for a man to be so absorbed in the enjoyment or achievement of the present that he begins to think or conclude that nothing more could be better. While sufferings of today can make people to give up their glorious tomorrow, comfort and achievements of today can equally rob a man of a better tomorrow. Apostle Paul in the book of Philippians 3:13-14, says: ‘Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus’.
It does not matter what you’ve achieved in life or ministry, you must realize that there’s nothing like the ‘peak’; where you are today is a stepping stone to greater heights if you can see the way God sees. God has not placed any limitations around your life, and you must always see beyond who you are or what you have achieved at the moment.
According to Jeremiah 29:11, the scripture says ‘For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end’. There’s no doubt about the fact that God has prepared a wealthy and glorious place for you, but to get there, you must see beyond your present predicaments or achievements. You don’t have to walk out of your marriage, quit that business, drop out of school, stop going to church or give up because of the challenges you’re passing through at the moment, there’s a glory ahead of you, and you must stand your ground until the challenges are over. The world is waiting for your manifestation! Don’t put an end to your own story when God says there’s still more to your life. Whether you’re in comfort or pain, see beyond your present situation. There’s a glory God has set before you, God is bringing you to a wealthy place! Amen.
Shalom!
