Why bad things happen to Good and God's people?
John the Baptist was a very good man who prepared a way for the Messiah (Jesus) ! But he was put into prison and later killed (Beheaded) by King Herod for a very silly reason!
During that time Jesus was on earth and he could have saved John from dying! But he didn't! Instead Jesus went to a quiet place and maybe prayed for him! (Matthew 14:13)
Now come to think of it, Jesus could have actually saved or have raised him from death but he didn't! And it's not because he couldn't do it but because John's purpose on earth was fulfilled! He had to make a way for the messiah and he had done it well!
Then I thought John was killed brutally, he was beheaded, when God was around why didn't he save John from being killed so cruelly or atleast punish those bad and mean people! The answer I got was thatÂ
'The son of man came to seek and save the Lost.'
Jesus was not here to punish anyone, but he came to save us and help us! Lead us in the right path!
It wasn't like in Old Testament where punishment was given instantly to those who sinned!
After Jesus came, we are all in grace period! All those who sin are accountable to God on the day of Judgement! At the end of the world! Till then bad things might happen to good people, but, no one dies without their purpose being fulfilled!
And all who sinned and killed innocent lives have their set of punishment waiting!
Dear friends, God's thoughts are way too high for us to understand completely!
But know that there is a good reason! Just trust him no matter what! Your prayers and tears won't go unanswered or unseen! Amen
