Tied up and held hostage, in the theater of our mind-dj eckert

Every time
we forego watching the sunset,
for watching the
t.v set....

Every time
we put down
a book,
and pick up
a remote control...

Every time
we put off listening to creative music,
to be be put "on" or "off",
by listening to uncreative words...

Every time
we listen
to voices
telling us that
enjoying ALL
of God's creation
is for dreamers, fools
and nerds...

Every time
we interact
in a simulated
electronic game,
instead of in
the real game of life, that makes tangible ties that bind...

It's just like a voice screaming
"FIRE! ...FIRE!...Fire!"
in the crowded theater of our minds.

When we "buy in"
to only what our mortal eyes can see,
and NOT into what our minds can use to feed our souls AND brains

We, fear filled, bored patrons, quit buying tickets,
and the theater no longer entertains.


But tied up like a hostage
in a comfy chair,
next to the aisle in the second row
sits a persistent man who faithfilly hopes that he can still see himself a show!

And as the theater's houselights
grow slowly, and
almost imperceptively, and
ever increasingly dim...
Could this be the fat, yet starving man,
who, by some kind of chance,
might answer ...
to the name of "slim"?
