  There will be places where we deviate, differing in our theology or ideology from even our greatest, most influential mentors. This is as it ought to be, for if it were not so then we would be mere clones of our mentors, not thinking for ourselves as individuals,  and thus not developing into the unique beings that God intended us to be, each with a unique relationship with Himself.  In this we can follow the example of the Berean Christians, searching the scriptures to make sure it is so, even if the word is coming from those of the spiritual stature of a Paul or a Silas, as it was in their case. (Acts 17, v.11)
