Dances with wolves. One of the most profound movies ever made. Reflections of a guy with true dignity. The character reflected shows all that a man of God should be. He shows true dedication to the cause. he had more than just the army to be accountable. He was dedicated to being loyal to the call of his service. That was one of the last few movies that comes to mind when considering Integrity and character. There are a select few more examples that portrayed life as we know it or life as it should be. Or is that character as it should be.
There was a time In my life that If I walked into a video store I would walk out empty handed. I had seen it all. There was nothing new under the sun. In fact many movies seemed to mirror the plot of one that came before. I think Johnny Depp Is a great actor. He is very unique with his abstract roles. Unfortunately "the window" was just like the shinning.
Point being is we look to stories to get lost in. We look for something to take us on a journey. We want the journey but yet for some reason we can't journey ourselves. We are desperate to find something to take us to somewhere new. Something fresh, something exciting. As my quest for something new dried up, I found myself looking for true stories. Seemed that would be fulfilling knowing a true story that actually happened. I did find some true stories, however, a story about a serial killer Is desperate.
At this moment In my life I came to realize something was wrong. Why look at someone else's life, when I have my own? Not that I desire to leave a mark like many who have come before me. Jesus said" he came to give us life and that more abundantly" Shouldn't life be more than a mere four dollar dvd. Personally, I realized movies in all their drama ( NYPD Blue) where keeping me from focusing on God and all that He had for me. They take you away to story land but just leave you when it was over. There is nothing left after it is over, It Is over. Even with the special features on the dvds. What else is there?
God! Jesus! Life abundantly! I don't have to watch someone else's life. He has a life for me. I don't have to live in a pretend world of living to go to the video store. I believe this is one of Satan's biggest strong holds on America today. American families are chained to their TV and dvd player. It is alarming how we have gone down such a meaningless path. Just to be entertained. God offers such more of a richer life. How in the world did we get sucked into such a meaningless plot. A plot that has attached Itself to and sucked the very life out of lives.
Your life does not have to be a circle of wondering what new release is coming out. There is much more life beyond the TV screen. Sitting and watching some random plot an executive has conjured up in his mind Is not life. Again Jesus said "the thief has come to rob and steal, but I have come to give you life and life more abundantly" . We have the hope of heaven but furthermore we have the choice for tremendous peace and tranquility here on earth. Jesus loves us and want to give us a life of Joy. Sure there are trials. But when He comes and lives in us, we are rooted in Him and the world and it's trials can't take Him away from us. Jesus! He is the lover of my very soul. He alone is the maker and finisher of my faith. In Him rests true peace and a true journey. A journey I would not trade for the world. "For I know the plans I have for you" thus declares the Lord "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".
